Here’s most of Zed’s letter from this last week. A few notes from me: I’m leaving in the part where he’s overly confident about his language skills. 🙂 I’m assuming that when he gets to Finland, he’ll have a hard time understanding the native speakers, but we’ll see. I don’t know exactly what TRC stands for, but it has something to do with role playing. Pictures at the bottom.

Hey all!

It’s now three weeks since I came to the MTC! It’s so weird haha, feels like I came in yesterday but also like I came in an eternity ago. I’m having a blast though, it’s really great being here.

Let’s see…

This week, I memorized the First Vision and John 3:16 in Finnish (at least mostly haha, listen to the recording I’m sending), so that’s good. My Finnish is good, according to everyone who’s heard it, so I’m not worried about that at all, and learning about the Gospel has been going well also. My new favorite scriptures are 1 Corinthians 13, 1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (as you already know), John 3:16, and there’s a chapter in 3 Nephi as well. Can’t remember what it is, which is really useful haha.

Elder Smith and I are the new zone leaders! We were able to welcome the 10 new Hungarian missionaries that we received yesterday, which was a blast. We’ve been zone leaders since Sunday, and so far it hasn’t been a ton different – after the old Hungarians leave on Monday we (the Finns) will be the oldest districts in the zone, so maybe it’ll be a bit different feeling then. In the meantime, we get to show the new elders the ropes of the MTC and make sure they feel at home, cause they’ve got a long stay ahead of them 😛

I think some of you heard, I got to teach a friend of Juliet’s at TRC last week! That was pretty fun. The other guy I taught for TRC told us that we very well might come back speaking Swedish as well – I had no idea, but he apparently spent 11 months of his mission in Swedish speaking areas. I’m really stoked about that, hopefully I get to do that as well!

I’m loving it here at the MTC and I’m really glad to hear from everyone throughout the week! Keep writing me!

P.S. Rakastan teitä! Te olette paras ja haluan että te tiedätte että tämä kirkko on totta. :))

Elder Medveczky (the one who’s going to Albania) doing a “scary face,” according to Zed.

Trying on his cold-weather stuff. Yes, he looks just a little like a terrorist in this picture.

  1. Yeah, we all think we’re good…till we land in Finland, hear the natives, then bawl like a baby and declare we ‘just can’t do it’. BUT that’s a short or a long declaration depending on whether you’re willing to jump in at the deep end and suck it up!!
